Meet Our Athlete of the Month
Meet Jordan Hayward, our featured athlete of the month.
Tell us about yourself?
I am 27 years old & am the proud affiliate owner of CrossFit Melior in the small town of Highland, Michigan. Born & raised here in Highland, spent my whole life growing up playing sports & working out.
How and when did you come to be a member of the CrossFit community?
In the summer of 2013 I saw the Games playing on TV at the globo gym where I worked out. Rich Froning was doing a clean & jerk and I immediately knew that’s what I wanted to do lol. Taught myself some things in the corner of the gym with the rings & bumper plates with some friends. Then later went on to find a local affiliate.
What advice would you give anyone starting CrossFit and a healthy lifestyle?
It’s a long process. You have to focus on what you can control one day at a time. It’s an investment in yourself, stay patient and the results will come. Especially from a CF standpoint, walk before you run. Technique first, then consistency, then intensity last!
Have you noticed any change in your performance at the gym since using Ice Age Meals?
Absolutely! Competing in CrossFit is very demanding on your body, having the right fuel to keep high energy levels high is so important. Ice Age Meals have always provided clean, quality nutrients & macros to help me stay energized.
What is your favorite Ice Age Meal and what do you enjoy most about the products?
Lemon Pepper Chicken & Rice is the best!! I’ve been purchasing IAM’s for over 5 years and still eat it 3-4 days a week. Never gets old. The convenience is life changing. I lack both the skills & time to cook/meal prep (lol). Being able to throw meals in the oven while getting things done then having them ready to go is the best!
When you aren’t working out or enjoying Ice Age Meals, how do you like to spend your time?
I’m often busy coaching classes with my awesome community & doing things with my gym! Love going golfing with my boys on the weekends (seasonally) along with watching some UFC on Saturdays with my brother!
