Tell us about yourself
I’m a retired 8x CrossFit Games competitor residing in Omaha, NE. I own and operate CrossFit Omaha and Go Far Fitness.
I am a true country girl at heart. I was raised on a farm outside of a small town in North East, Nebraska with a population of 700 people.
I played volleyball for the University of Nebraska Omaha. After four years of undergrad and collegiate volleyball, I graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. In 2008, one year after graduating college, I found CrossFit and qualified for the 2009 CrossFit Games less than six months later. Oh, how things have changed since then. In 2013, I left a corporate job to pursue my new-found passion: becoming a full-time CrossFit Games athlete. I also began coaching at CrossFit Omaha that same year. I would go on to become the owner of CrossFit Omaha in 2016.
In 2017, after competing in my eighth CrossFit Games I retired from the sport competitively and have since shifted my focus to improving fitness and wellness in others.
In August of this year, I launched Go Far Fitness. I am now dedicating all my time to the advancement of my two fitness communities.
How and when did you come to be a member of the CrossFit community?
In 2008, my boyfriend at the time (now husband), Dustin, had to convince me to give it a go. My first workout was nothing short of unforgettable. It involved deadlifts and box jumps. I could not finish the workout even after I scaled the weights and movements. Despite the humbling outcome of this "first WOD" experience, I was hooked.
How has your life changed since you started doing CrossFit?
What started as just a way to get fit, has literally become my way of life and livelihood. Listed here are just a few ways CrossFit has completely changed my life:
CrossFit has allowed for me and my husband, Dustin, to become business owners and entrepreneurs owning CrossFit Omaha and Go Far Fitness, together. CrossFit enabled me to positively influence and directly affect others’ lives in a positive way. CrossFit has opened my eyes to the world of nutrition. I’m healthier now than I’ve ever been in my life. CrossFit has taught me more about nutrition than any scholastic book ever did. Because of CrossFit, I got to travel the world and experience some unforgettable trips. CrossFit has allowed for me to foster new and old relationships, and I’ve been able to make so many friendships along the way. I’ve been able to participate in video productions, photo shoots, and all sorts of behind-the -scene activities all because of CrossFit. I’ve learned so much about branding and marketing long the way. Thanks to CrossFit, I was able to maximize my athletic talent. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever think I would get to call myself a professional athlete and 8x CrossFit Games competitor.
What advice would you give anyone starting CrossFit and a healthy lifestyle?
Keep showing up. Stay consistent. The magic happens in 2 places. The first is in the kitchen. The second is in the intensity of your workouts.
Have you noticed any change in your performance at the gym since using Ice Age Meals
As much as I love to cook and meal prep, I don’t always have the time to make it happen. I can always count on Ice Age Meals to fuel me up and leave me satisfied, regardless of which meal I grab from the freezer. The food is wholesome, and it always taste good - that’s what matters most to me. Eating the right portions and nutrient-dense quality ingredients has improved my performance and recovery in the gym. I would be lost and hungry without them.
What is your favorite Ice Age Meal and what do you enjoy most about the products?
Tough question! They’re all my favorite! But if I were to pick just one, I’d have to say Butternut Squash Lasagna. I’ve cooked with Chef Nick before, so I know what kind of love goes into making each meal - there’s lots of it! My husband is obsessed with the Huli Huli Chicken right now.
When you aren’t working out or enjoying Ice Age Meals, how do you like to spend your time?
When I’m not working, working out, or enjoying Ice Age Meals, you can find me spending time with my husband and my 70lb Double-Doodle pup, Louden. If the sun is shining, we’ll most likely be outside sunbathing, grilling, or relaxing with some friends by the lake.
